Healthy Learners has been serving the students of Dillon since the fall of 2005. The program serves elementary, middle and high school students who lack adequate access to health care in Dillon County. In 2019, Healthy Learners screened students in the county for vision, dental, and hearing. These screenings allow us to identify children with health barriers to learning, then provide access to the health care that they need to thrive in school. Based on this pilot, Healthy Learners is moving towards a screen, refer, serve strategy to expand our reach and impact into other rural counties.
