Healthy Learners began serving children in Richland School District One in 1992. Over the years, the program expanded to serve Richland School District Two as well as Lexington School Districts Two and Four. The program serves elementary and middle school students who lack adequate access to health care. To best serve the growing Hispanic population, Healthy Learners hired a bi-lingual Student Service Coordinator in 2019 to improve quality of care to our families. Based on our new strategic direction, Healthy Learners plans to explore expansion opportunities to meet the needs of children within the Midlands region.

“Watching a child that has a large prescription put on glasses for the first time…that smile that spreads across their face as they realize how much more they can see. That’s the best part of my job improving the lives of the children I serve.”
