Planned giving enables you to leave a legacy that lasts beyond your lifetime. Your planned gift impacts future generations of children in South Carolina, ensuring that they get the opportunity to reach their full potential.
EASY WAYS TO LEAVE A LEGACY
Will or Trust
A Will or Trust is the most common way you can make a bequest to further our mission of empowering Native American individuals and communities to attain self-sufficiency. You can designate a percentage of your estate or a dollar amount, or even a piece of real estate.
Naming Healthy Learners as the beneficiary of your life insurance policy is an easy way to impact future generations of South Carolinians.
Charitable Gift Annuity
A Healthy Learners Gift Annuity is an easy way for you to receive fixed-rate income, either monthly, quarterly, semi-annually or annually, and allows for potential tax savings during your lifetime. Your income will depend on your age, the date you establish your annuity and the amount of your annuity. At the end of your life, the remainder of your charitable gift annuity will benefit the children we serve. One and two-life charitable gift annuities are available for individuals 65 and over.
By naming Healthy Learners as a beneficiary of your pension plan, 401(k), IRA or self-employed retirement plan you can make a significant charitable gift, reduce your tax burden, and increase the amount of your estate available to family and loved ones.
Gifts Of Securities or Real Estate
Gifts of appreciated property, such as securities or real estate, can provide even greater tax benefits to you than an equivalent gift in cash. Always consult your tax adviser before proceeding with a donation of property.
Gifts or Other Valuable Assets
When you donate a gift of tangible personal property — such as works of art, rare books or other items of value — you are generally entitled to a charitable tax deduction.

Employer Giving Programs
Many employers encourage their employees’ charitable giving and/or volunteer service by matching their gifts and/or making grants to honor contributions of time such as board service or volunteering. These programs can significantly multiply the impact of your gift.
Securing a matching gift typically involves filling out your company’s matching gift request form and sending it to us along with your gift. We submit the form to your employer.
