2021 Annual Report Released

February 9, 2022 | General News

2021 was a year of obstacles and overcoming, trials and triumphs, of grace and growth. With many students learning virtually in the winter and spring of 2021, we continued to provide children with access to care from both home and school as districts navigated pandemic protocols. In the summer, we had four AmeriCorps members that helped us as we continued to serve through screening events and food delivery. We collaborated with summer camps, apartment complexes, and library systems to do screenings, so that vision and dental problems could be identified and addressed before the start of the school year. We partnered with other non-profit organizations to deliver 3,625 meals to our neighbors in need.

In the fall when school started again, we were proactive in setting up screening events in the districts we serve, since so few of these events could be done in 2020 because of the pandemic. We had seven new AmeriCorps members join us in the fall; these members are helping us reach our goal of serving more children in more communities across South Carolina. Despite the challenges of the year, we were able to expand our reach from six counties in 2021 to 10 in 2021, adding Fairfield, Hampton, Laurens and Marion counties to our service area. Here's to more growth in 2022!
