HEALTHY LEARNERS WELCOMES TWO NEW BOARD MEMBERS

COLUMBIA, SOUTH CAROLINA – Healthy Learners, a faith-based non-profit that connects school-aged children to health care providers to help remove barriers to school success, announces two new members to the Healthy Learners Board of Trustees. They are: Jocelyn A. Clarkson and Dillon Chewning.
“As we guide Healthy Learners into the future, it is reassuring to have such a talented board of directors. Jocelyn and Dillon bring their own unique skills and perspectives to the board. We are most grateful for their involvement and support, and their commitment to our mission of removing children’s health barriers to learning with love and compassion,” said Amy Splittgerber, executive director of Healthy Learners.
New to the board:
Jocelyn A. Clarkson, is a retired medical technologist who worked at Richland Memorial Hospital for 43 years. Her interest in helping children was evident in her service early in her career as a teacher’s aide with Head Start and tutor of German Language at Columbia College. In her retirement, she is active as a Eucharistic Minister at the Basilica of Saint Peter in Columbia. In 2015, Clarkson was formally accepted as a member of the Associates of the Sisters of Charity of St. Augustine following a year of spiritual formation. She has a bachelor’s degree in biology from Columbia College and completed medical technologist training at Presbyterian Hospital School of Medical Technology in Charlotte, North Carolina.
Dillon Chewning is a financial advisor with Northwestern Mutual. Chewning opened his personal practice with Northwestern Mutual in 2018. He is the college unit director for the Northwestern Mutual Columbia office, in addition to his personal practice. Previously, he was an accountant with SCANA Corporation in Cayce, South Carolina. Chewning is a graduate of the University of South Carolina’s Darla Moore School of Business with a doubl major in accounting and finance. In the community, he serves as president of the Cayce West Columbia Rotary Club and as the vice chair for the Darla Moore School Young Alumni Board.
