Healthy Learners provides access to health care for children who are in need and without resources in four regions across South Carolina. These program areas include Allendale, Dillon, Georgetown, Greenwood and the Midlands.
Our target population is the children who would otherwise fall through the “cracks” of the system. Students with identified health needs and little or no means of funding are referred to Healthy Learners by their school nurse. School nurses use the free/reduced lunch guidelines to help determine eligibility; however service may be determined on a case by case basis. Other barriers to accessing care include lack of transportation and the need for case management services both of which are provided by Healthy Learners.
